Privacy policy
Last updated October 2026
This site is run by TC (Tom) through TMC Music Limited (company number 08795461, registered in England and Wales), registered office: Park House, 10 Park Street, Bristol BS1 5HX, which is responsible for your information. Contact: dontplayrecords@gmail.com. This policy explains what personal information the site collects and why.
What we collect
- When you buy something: your email address, name, and — for merch — your delivery address. Payment details are entered on Stripe's or PayPal's own pages; this site never sees or stores your card or PayPal details.
- Your account: your email address and what you've bought, so you can download your purchases again.
- Downloads: when you download a purchase we record the time, your IP address and country, to stop shared links being abused.
- Mailing list: your email address, if you sign up or tick the box at checkout, plus your name if you gave it. We also keep your rough location (the town or region your connection was in when you signed up, or your billing address if you've bought something) so we can tell you about shows near you, and the city you picked if you answered "where do you want me to play?".
- From our old shop: customers and mailing-list members from before October 2026 were moved over from our old Wix site, with their order history.
Counting visits
To see which pages and previews people like, the site counts visits itself, without cookies and without anything stored in your browser. For each page opened it records the page, the website that sent you there (just its name), the country, whether you're on a phone, tablet or computer, and which browser — plus any preview you play, and what you add to your cart or check out with. Your IP address is never stored in these records (Cloudflare's own systems use it briefly to run and protect the site). Instead, each visit is given a code that changes every day, so we can tell how many different people came on a day but can't recognise you, or follow you from one day to the next. Nothing is shared with any analytics company. Your approximate location — the nearest town or city, as worked out by Cloudflare, never anything closer — is shown to the site owner on a live map while you're on the site, and kept with these visit counts; your IP address still isn't stored. If your browser is set to "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control, nothing is counted at all. These records are deleted after about 13 months.
Who else handles it
- Stripe processes payments. If you pay with PayPal, PayPal handles that payment too, under its own privacy policy.
- Printful prints and ships merch, so they receive your name, address and email for merch orders.
- Cloudflare hosts the site, stores order records and download files, and sends our emails (order receipts, login links and the mailing list).
- GitHub stores the site's pages and product list (no customer information).
Some of these companies handle information outside the UK, with the safeguards UK law requires.
We don't sell your information or share it with anyone else.
Mailing list
Every mailing list email has an unsubscribe link. If you've bought from the site we may email you about similar music unless you unsubscribe or opt out — you can do that at any time.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for at least six years for tax purposes. Mailing-list sign-ups that are never confirmed are deleted after 30 days. The IP address and country of each download are kept for up to 90 days, to stop download links being shared, and then deleted. Visit counts are deleted after about 13 months. Your account stays active so you can keep downloading what you've bought. Ask us and we'll delete anything we're not required to keep.
Why we use it
To sell you what you buy and let you download it (our contract with you); to keep tax records (the law requires it); to send the mailing list (you asked for it, and you can stop at any time); and to stop download links being shared and see which pages work (our legitimate interest in running the shop, kept to the minimum).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. Email dontplayrecords@gmail.com. If you're unhappy with how we handle your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Cookies
The site sets one cookie, only when you log in, to keep you logged in to your account. Your cart is stored in your own browser. There are no tracking or advertising cookies, and counting visits doesn't use cookies either.
